The Makers
Behind the Work
Every finished piece is the end of a long conversation between maker and thread. These are some of the hands holding the needle.

Dorothy Ashworth
Retired schoolteacher
Vermont, USA · 3 years stitching
Dorothy discovered cross-stitch at sixty-two, when her granddaughter gifted her a starter kit one December. Three winters later, she has completed fourteen samplers — all reproductions of eighteenth-century American schoolgirl work — and now runs the community's Tuesday evening "Slow Stitch" thread, where patience is the only prerequisite.

Tomás Guerrero
Graphic designer & pattern maker
Brooklyn, NY · 5 years stitching
Tomás came to cross-stitch through pixel art — the grid was already familiar. He now charts original patterns on graph paper before transferring them digitally, releasing a new design every month to a following of 4,200 makers. His work sits somewhere between protest poster and botanical print, and his thread palette leans heavily terracotta.

Anika Oduya
Textile artist
London, UK · 8 years stitching
Anika stitches subversive phrases onto thrifted table linens — napkins, tray cloths, the occasional antimacassar — and photographs them on her grandmother's dining table. The juxtaposition is the point. She joined Stitch looking for a community that understood why a perfectly executed satin stitch could be both a domestic act and a small defiance.
